Cape Town40 hospitals and more than a dozen community clinics will be using a single instance of JAC's Pharmacy Management system to service about 10% of country’s total population.

Cape Town, RSA, 10th November 2008 – JAC Computer Services (JAC) and HST, their South African distributor, have signed contracts with the Provincial Government of the Western Cape (PGWC) of South Africa to roll-out a single JAC Pharmacy Management system across the Western Cape region in South Africa.

The agreements cover both the upgrading of the JAC Pharmacy Management system currently in use at the three major academic hospitals in the Cape Town metropolitan area and a subsequent programme of rolling-out the system to the region’s main public sector hospitals and community health clinics.

By the end of the programme, the JAC system will provide integrated pharmacy services for 40 hospitals and accounts for 10% of South Africa’s population.

By adopting a single, integrated and real-time system, the PGWC will benefit from major advancements in their ability to centrally monitor, manage, audit and report on regional medicines usage and stock control.
